Video Analysis
To improve a Tennis players strokes and movement it is important
to see the sequence of joint and limb movements so that changes to be made are
appropriate for the player.
It is not always possible to see the sequence of movements
at normal speed, therefore a Video recording is used to capture the sequence of
movements. Once the video is captured,
video analysis software is used to analyse the stroke/movement patterns.
The major benefits of using this video analysis software are:
-
The players current strokes and movement patterns are clearly understood which
enables appropriate changes to the stroke/movement patterns to be made
during coaching sessions.
-
The players strokes/movement may be compared to Professional
Players.
-
The players strokes/movements may be compared to players of
similar age/ability.
-
The LTA Long Term Player Development Plan may be referenced
to ensure that the proposed changes are appropriate for the player.
-
A video record of the players strokes/movements patterns may
be kept so that progress may be seen.
-
The player will have a greater understanding of what and why,
they are going to change their strokes/patterns of movement.
